Aneela Hoey

Aneela Hoey

Aneela studied printed textile design at Winchester School of Art before working at design studios in  both London and New York as well as freelance work.  She began designing fabric for Dakota in 2010, with lines including Sherbet Pips, Little Apples, A Walk In The Woods, Posy and Cherry Christmas. Aneela's design work usually starts out with hand drawn sketches and artwork before being recreated in either Illustrator or Photoshop.  She loves designing digitally so that she can play around with colour, form and layout to create something interesting.

Aneela is currently obsessed with writing patterns for sewing organizers - pouches, totes, boxes and cases that can be sewn up and used to hold tools and supplies for stitching projects.  Her most popular designs include the Zip Up Tray Pouch, Kit Supply Tote and Booklet Pouch.   She finds that pattern writing gives her a chance to problem solve and work out the best way she can create something with the least amount of hassle.  Her goal is to create designs that are both inventive and functional.

As well as her stand alone patterns, Aneela has written several books - Stitched Sewing Organizers, Little Stitches and Stitch And Sew.  She has also put together an embroidery transfer pattern book with her most popular images - Sweet Stitches.  All published by Stash Books (C&T Publishing).
